What is ElectroFlightRC?

ElectroFlightRC is not like any other RC forum. This site is meant to be an accurate and concise database of RC airplanes and all the components necessary to power them with electric power systems. But more than that, this site is meant to be a place where all electric flight enthusiasts can share information about the different power system configurations they have built and where everyone can intelligently search those power system configurations and find a good fit for their own particular project.

So how is this different than searching the popular forums for a build log? Well, here is my experience and maybe this will explain the motivation behind the development of ElectroFlightRC.

Even experienced electric RC enthusiasts can only figure out a general set of requirements for the power system to power their airplane. Of course, with experience, this can become easier if you've already powered a similar airplane. But, experienced or not, we usually turn to the wonderful resources we have available on the web. There are a number of very popular forums where we can hopefully find one or more build logs. In many cases, that is what happens. There are many build logs (on one or more forum sites) which consist of hundreds if not thousands of posts. In many cases, there are posts that have nothing to do either with what you are looking for or the subject of the discussion thread. It's a veritable mountain of information that takes hours to sift through and which can leave the less experienced hobbyist (and even sometimes the experienced ones) a little confused as to the best configuration.

I wished there was an easier way! Well now there is. ElectroFlightRC is a community driven database of the straight facts: Airframe + ESC + Motor + Prop + Batteries = Results. It's all easily and quickly searchable by any of the characteristics of any of the components. For example, you can search for all power setups for a specific airframe and/or airframe AUW and/or a specific motor and/or airframe wingspan or any number of other search criteria. You now have access to a rich set of information directly related to powering an airplane with electric power systems! The results show all the components used and all the measured results such as input Amps, Watts, Thrust both for static and in-air - and many other useful values.

You have to understand that ElectroFlightRC is simply the tool. The real value is in it's members and the data that is provided and maintained by those members. In our experience, the RC hobby is full of people who love to share their experience and help others and really help make the hobby better and more accessible for everyone. That is why ElectroFlightRC is built as a community based data gathering tool. We depend on everyone to enter as clean and useful information as possible and we've built the tools necessary for the community to validate the data being entered.

This little introduction is starting to get slightly long, so we will leave it there and let you start exploring the site. We hope you enjoy it and find the information you find here useful for you projects. And we also thank everyone for helping us by providing information about their electric power systems and the results they observe :o)

Thank You and Welcome!
